Day 6: Try broomstick lace

Ok. I tried it. I tell you what, if you can master this technique the results are neat. But otherwise it was just a big pain. Here is my first attempt (you’ll notice the real broomstick). My Crochet Today magazine from last month had a pattern for a neckwarmer made with broomstick lace and that is what I was going for. I quickly decided it wasn’t for me! So I unraveled it and began a project with fewer lace groups per row.

That’s more like it! This was much easier to handle. I also ditched the broomstick and used an enormous crochet hook instead.  Now I need to decide if I will continue until the yarn runs out to make a skinny scarf or finish off and attach some fastener for a wrist band.

If you are interested in trying some broomstick lace, you can find a collection of patterns here.
